Four

Occupy has taken over. It's pretty stupid considering how small this town is, I don't know how much of an impact they're going to have. It's not like there are news stations down here covering their every move. They don't even have enough people to fill all the tents. Or at least that's what I heard. Are they just waiting for people to join them? Anyway I feel bad for them because it's been raining a lot lately. Not even just raining. Storming. Thunder and lighting and all that jazz. If i was them I would leave that tent fast.
I wonder if they can hear those weird noises from the building next door. Edith pointed them out to me a couple days ago. The noise is not that loud. Not that frequent either. But it's definitely there. Creepy? Maybe a little bit. I kinda want to find out what it is.
"Edith, want to go find out what's making that noise?"
"No no no."
"Why not?"
"It scares me."
"Scares you? I thought you were fearless"
"Well anything else. That noise is just weird."
"Ok fine. I'll find someone else to go with."
Well that adventure is shot. Usually Edith is up for anything. Maybe I can convince her later when it's not so dark and stormy out. Hopefully it'll get sunny soon. But it's doubtful. This storming has been going on so long it seems like it'll never stop. I guess I should leave the house and run some errands before it gets bad. Dad is asleep. Mom should be home soon. I'll be back before she is. I start to head into Edith's room to ask if she wants to come with, but then decide it'd be better to go alone.

"I quickly realized they thought it was just as stupid and meaningless as I did. Their names were ETHEL and Taunya. Looking at the time, I bade them goodbye, told them to stop by for a free movie as an anti-occupy gift, and walked towards the Theater."

  2. "But while I was stuck in the middle of Occupy, I met a like-minded woman. I met Ethel. Her name reminds me of ethanol. I remember from chemistry class that ethanol is alcohol. Too funny. Especially given Ethel herself seems like she could use some ethanol in her system. Ethel was standing around the tents, complaining about the weather. I was about to write her off as an annoying but her hatred towards the Occupy movement struck me as inspiring. I’ve never been able to have a long enough train of thoughts to get so riled up about something. I’m so spacey. Like, I can’t even remember why I began this entry.

Oh! So about Ethel. We got to talking, and she explained why she hated the Occupiers so much. Something about the city being too small to make a difference. I decided I would take some initiative. We started anti-Occupy! I’m still thinking through the logistics, since it’s physically impossible to not exist. But I heard there’s been some progress on invisibility cloakes. I wish we could use those, but I don’t think they’re on the market.

So we went up to the Occupiers and started anti-chanting towards them. But we were actually still chanting. Not sure how that one worked out. Even though there were only eleven of them, Ethel and I still felt pretty outnumbered. So we left, but not without exchanging phone numbers so we could keep planning. Shoot. I forgot to mention that the phone number I gave her isn’t mine exactly…"

  3. Two women were standing on the opposite side of the crowd, chanting back at the crowd. When I walked up to ask about the blue tent, one of the women informed me that the Occupy movement was stupid. "That's lovely," I told her, "but I'm not with them. I was wondering if you knew if the blue tent belongs to anyone." She didn't think so.

[I actually meant for the talker to be Taunya, but since she was with you, here ya go]

  4. Alistair got off to an unusually late start today, waking up at 1 pm. As he set his shop up in preparation opening for the day, a giant thunderbolt struck across the street from his shop. He stopped short, looked around, put down the open sign he clutched in his left hand, and walked out the door. The moment he saw the lightening bolt, Alistair had an idea. This could be his break back into the detective business. The other day, as he made casual conversation with some strangers, he had heard rumors about a girl who went to investigate some strange metallic noises in an old building next to castle apartments. The girl has not returned for a day and a half. At first, this news just seemed sad, and Alistair had not thought anything more about it. It never occurred to the somewhat naïve, loose-minded ex private eye that he could actually work on a case WITHOUT being hired first. Alistair was so excited as he ran toward Castle Apartments that he didn't even notice the downpour through which he waded. He took the steps two at a time, nearly running toward the fourth floor of Castle Apartments, and the last place Ethel Roberts was seen.
